(2) The authority shall grant an import permit if it is satisfied
(a) in case of pre-packaged food, that the food item intended to be imported has been registered with the Authority;
(b) in case of un-pre-packaged food, the food item intended to be imported complies with specification prescribed by the authority;
(c) That the food item for which permit is being sought has not been banned or does not contain any ingredient which has been banned in the country of origin
(3) The authority may with draw, cancel or suspend any registration certificate or import permit issued by it or cancel any food item specified therein if-
(a) it is discovered that false information was given in obtaining the import permit or registration of the food importer or of the food item in question;
(b) it is reasonably suspected that a food item specified therein is likely to cause death hazard to consumers.

Description of the measure
33.-(1) Every seed dealer who, intends to import seed into Tanzania, shall submit to the Director a notice of intention to import such seed on Form SR XII set out in the Fifth Schedule to these Regulations.
(2) the notice under sub-regulation (1) shall specify:-
(a)name and address of importer;
(b)country of origin;
(c)name and address of importer;
(d) the quantity of seed;
(e)expected date of arrival of consignment; and
(f)the species and the cultivar.
(3) Upon receipt of such notice, the Director shall issue a seed import permit in Form SR XIII set out in the Fifth Schedule to these Regulations.
(4) Any seed imported under this regulation shall not be sold unless its quality has been examined and approved by TOSCI or any other certification agency which is in bilateral agreement with Tanzania as regard to seed certification.
(5) Any imported seed shall be accompanied by certificate of quality issued by a Recognized Certification Agency, phytosanitary certificate and shall meet Tanzanian quarantine requirements as provided in the Plant Protection Act

(2) Each person who becomes a manufacturer, importer or exporter of maize products or wheatn products after the date at which this statutory measure comes into force shall register with SAGIS within 30 Days after he becomes such a manufacturer, importer or exporter;
(3) Upon registration of an applicant by SAGIS a certificate of registration is to be issued to him;
(4) The registration certificate issued in terms of sub-clause (3) shall expire when it is cancelled by SAGIS of when the statutory measure is revoked;
