Zimbabwean exporters take longer to clear products at the Mozambique/Zimbabwe border. This is affecting particularly exports of fresh milk. This has limited Zimbabweans to exporting products that have a long shelf life into that country. |

In some instances, Kenya customs demands that Tanzania exporters wishing to pernetrate the Kenyan market have to produce an EA certificate of origin or alternatively an international certificate of origin. An EA certificate of origin does not exist yet, since the EA countries are using the COMESA certificate of origin until they develope their own. |

The delays in going through the inspection process and approval process which takes a minimum of three working days, can be costly to exporters particularly for perishables. the process is that the Malawian importer seeks approval from ITS Malawi for inspection. ITS Malawi notifies ITS head office, which is in South Africa. Head office instructs ITS Zimbabwe and gives them authority to carry out the inspection at the Malawian Company's expense. |

At the 3rd meeting the Tripartite NTBs Focal Points and NMC Chairs,Malawi reported that it was difficult to get further information from the complainant as this was uploaded before the online system allowed complainants to provide their contact details. However, Malawi would consult with the Ministry of Transport to gather all the transport related charges and upload them on the NTB website, for transparency. It was resolved that this NTB could not be processed for now until such time South Africa provides adequate information on the complaint. In the meantime, the NTB would be considered resolved, until the agreed information is made available. South Africa requested that the NTB be transffered to the section for resolved NTBs of policy and regulatory nature since the regulations are in place in Malawi. |
