REQUIREMENTS FOR ALCOHOL FOR EXPORT
1. The alcohol shall not contain less than 94 volumes of absolute alcohol per 100 volumes of alcohol at 20 degrees Celcius.
2. When tested by the Barbet test, if the time taken is not less than three minutes the alcohol shall be deemed to belong to grade A, and if less than three minutes but not less than thirty seconds the alcohol shall be deemed to belong to Grade B.
3. The alcohol shall not contain more than 10 milligrammes of total acids (expressed as acetic acid) per litre of alcohol.
4. The alcohol shall not contain more than 2 milligrammes of mineral acid (expressed as sulphuric acid) per litre of alcohol.
5. The alcohol shall not contain more than 5 milligrammes of dry matter per litre of alcohol.
6. The alcohol shall remain limpid when diluted with an equal volume of water.
10. Any person who manufactures or exports any product shall maintain at all times complete records of –
(a) the production including materials used therein;
(b) place of production;
(c) number, identification and types of machinery used in production;
4. (1) Any person who exports any controlled goods, shall apply for an export permit from the Permanent Secretary.
5. (1) No export permit shall be granted under regulation (4) in respect of
controlled goods falling under H.S. Codes 02.01 to 02.10 unless the Permanent Secretary is satisfied that any process or place relating to the manufacture, packaging, canning, production, labelling or storage or any means of transportation, of the controlled goods is in conformity with such related norms, directives or requirements as are applicable in the importing country.

(a) is unsafe for storage, handling or use in that it is inadequate to prevent harm to human and animal health or to the environment; or

(c) is required to be approved under this Act and has not been approved."

- “precious stones” means rough and uncut diamonds, emeralds, rubies and sapphires, not forming part of any tool or instrument or abrasive powder used in an industrial process, and includes any other stones which may be prescribed;

13. Labelling and marking of medicinal products
(1) Subject to regulation 29, every medicinal product shall, unless otherwise directed by the
Board, bear or incorporate a label on the package in which the medicinal product is sold, on which is printed in clear and indelible letters in the English language and any other language as may be directed or approved by the Board the following particulars which relate to that medicinal product—
(a) the name and address of the person who owns the medicinal product;
(b) the name and address of the manufacturer;
(c) the approved name of the medicinal product and the proprietary name or trade mark, if any, of the medicinal product;
(d) the logo, if any, of the person who owns the medicinal product or manufacturer of the medicinal product;
(e) the name and percentage of any bacteriostatic or bactericidal agent which is added to the medicinal product as a preservative;
(f) the date of manufacture and the expiry date of the medicinal product;
(g) the batch number of the medicinal product;
(h) the quantity of the medicinal product, in the package;
j) the required storage conditions or other necessary precautions for the preservation of the medicinal product;
(k) the category of distribution of the medicinal product which may be represented by
words or symbols as set out in the Third Schedule;
(l) the dosage of the medicinal product and the directions for use;
m) any warning notices which shall be in a colour or print other than the colour or print of the particulars referred to in subparagraphs (a) to (l); and
(n) any other particulars as may be directed by the Board:
Provided that in the case of a small package containing a medicinal product, it shall be adequate to record the information required by paragraphs (c), (f), (g), (h), and on the outer label.
(2) Every medicinal product shall where possible be marked with the logo of the owner of the medicinal product or manufacturer of the medicinal product, as the case may be, and such other distinguishing mark for the purpose of identifying such medicinal product.

22. Issue of licenses for dairy plant
(1) No person shall operate or allow to be operated a dairy plant or other plant or factory in which milk is used, where any portion of the milk brought into such plant is sold, offered for sale, or supplied for human consumption in fluid form or its products without first obtaining a licence from the Minister. Such licence shall specify the premises with respect to which it is issued and be limited to such premises and shall be in Form IV set out in the Schedule.

"7. Grading and marking of carcasses of goats
The carcasses of goats which are liable to be graded in terms of the Act in consequence of the
goats having been slaughtered in a prescribed area for sale or export, in any form whatsoever, shall be
graded by a Government grader at a slaughter-house as goatmeat, and shall be marked by a
Government grader with a roller-mark in accordance with the following provisions—
(a) Grade 1 Goat shall be marked with the mark “Goat 1111”;
(b) Grade 2 Goat shall be marked with the mark “Goat 2222”:

4. Classification and grading
The carcasses of all pigs which are liable to be graded in terms of the Act in consequence of the pigs having been slaughtered for sale or export in any form whatsoever shall be classified and graded at a slaughter-house by a Government grader in accordance with the provisions of the First Schedule and roller-marked in accordance with the provisions of the Second Schedule: G.N. 39/2003
Provided that—
(a) the carcass of a pig slaughtered for export need not be roller-marked; and
(b) internal cuts of meat shall not be so marked.

"5. Grading of raw cotton
Raw cotton shall be sold (whether by auction or otherwise) in two grades only, namely—
(a) Grade I, which shall be unstained cotton free from foreign matter in excess of 5 per cent by weight;
(b) Grade II, which shall be any other merchantable cotton."
8. Exportation of reserved minerals
(1) No person shall export a reserved mineral, unless—
(b) the reserved mineral is packed in a sealed parcel addressed to a named consignee and marked with a stamp of the Department of Geological Survey approved by the Minister, certifying the mass and description of the reserved mineral.
(2) A person intending to apply for an export permit to export a reserved mineral shall, before making the application, send the reserved mineral to the Department of Geological Survey, P.O. Box 27, Zomba, or to such other address of that Department as the Chief Geologist may specify in respect of any district or number of districts. Upon receipt of the reserved mineral, the Department of Geological Survey shall certify its mass and description and shall pack it in a sealed parcel and clearly mark on the parcel the name and address of the consignee of the reserved mineral and its mass and description so certified; but so, however, that where a parcel contains several reserved minerals the mass and description of each shall be marked on the parcel.

"45. Import and export restrictions
In addition to such terms and conditions as may be fixed in his licence to import or export any drug, the importer, or, as the case may be, the exporter shall comply with the following provisions: he shall, if he is an exporter of a drug—
(i) which is to be exported in one package, place the duplicate licence to export that drug inside the outer wrapper of that package;
(ii) which is to be exported in more than one package—
(A) place the duplicate licence to export that drug inside the outer wrapper of one package;
(B) consecutively number on the outer wrapper all the packages in which the drug is contained; and
(C) indicate on each package the number of the package in which the duplicate licence is to be found;"
