The rationale of the measure
a) Protect public health
b) Protect the domestic and export animal markets, animal products and others who may be affected directly or indirectly by animal diseases
c) Act as a framework to carry out epidemiological surveillance, eradication and control of major diseases which can impact the economy and public health
d) Form the basis for compensation for losses caused by animal disease
e) Form the basis for compliance with the animal welfare conditions

Description of the measure
Article 22(1): It is prohibited importation of animals, their products, by-products, spoils and forage coming from areas where it is known there are diseases listed in the O.I.E. List up to six months after the last outbreak was observed
Article 22(2): The import of domestic and wild animals, their products, by-products, remains and fodder is also prohibited if they transit in areas affected by the diseases listed in the O.I.E List
