DRC authorities in Mutaka, Lualaba province are charging 100 United states dollars for scanning each commercial truck loaded with cargo.
Cumbersome barriers, lengthy procedures have caused unprecedented congestion of hundreds of trucks in Mutaka area.
Truck drivers no sanitation, no wellness facilities, power security. One truck driver died in his truck on the due to Kasumbalesa border. - Progress update note

1. On 22 May 2023, DRC Focal Point reported that the complaint had just been submitted to the competent service (Ministry of Foreign Trade) and that investigations would be undertaken as soon as possible for resolution.
2. On 9 April 2026, DRC Focal Point reported that this tax has already been abolished according to the authorities of Lualaba province. To confirm whether payment is still being made, Namibia is requested to ask drivers to provide proof of payment of this tax. The NTB should therefore be resolved - Policy or regulatory NTB
