Delays in transit bonds cancellation by EAC partner states

Status note

Now with the introduction of the Single Customs Territory using a single bond from the port up to final destination, the issue has been addressed.

Progress update note

1. The Dedicated Ministerial Meeting on non tariff barriers held on 14 Marh 2012 in Kenya, decided that the Partner States implement the electronic cancellation of bonds within 24 hours.

2. KRA is urged to conscientiously engage the management in upgrading the system as reported in the EAC NTBs Time Bound Programme
