Complaint

Burundian mineral water was denied entry into Rwanda on grounds that the water did not comply with Rwanda quality standards.  

Status note

At the Tripartite NTBs Online Reporting, Monitoring and Eliminating Mechanism Meeting to Launch the SMS Reporting Tool held from 9-10 April 2013 in Lusaka, Zambia, Rwanda reported that this NTB had been resolved by Burundi.  

Progress update note

On 18 November 2012, Rwanda Beurea of Standards re quested the following clarifications to assist their investigation on the issue raised by Burundi:
1. When this have been started?
2. Any official communication signed by RBS or any other authority in Rwanda banning the importation of Mineral water from Burundi into Rwanda?
3. There isn’t RBS quality Inspectors at Rwanda Burundi borders(KANYARU BORDER, NEMBA BORDER …ETC); Who enforces that ban on Burundi Rwanda borders?
4. Any consignment have been rejected by RBS Quality Inspectors ? If any, what are raisons communicated to importer? Cover letter is available?
5. Who is in charge of organizing , coordinate and finance the meeting of concerned persons/ institutions on both side in order to sort out that NTB?
